CATANIA, Sicily (AP) Catania has sacked coach Rolando Maran for the second time this season, replacing him with Maurizio Pellegrino.

The Sicilian club made the decision shortly after Sunday's 2-1 defeat at home to Torino, which left it seven points off safety with six matches remaining.

Maran's dismissal is the 13th coaching change in Serie A this season, and the third at Catania.

Maran guided Catania to eighth place last season, its best finish in Serie A, but was fired in October after winning only one of the opening eight matches.

He was rehired three months later following the dismissal of Luigi De Canio, but has won just seven points in his 13 matches in charge, and only one in the past eight.

Pellegrino, who coached Catania in the third division, has been promoted from the youth sectors.
