Alejandro Gomez was in inspired form as Catania pulled off a remarkable 4-0
thumping of Lazio.

Gomez opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute to set Rolando Maran's
men on their way before Francesco Lodi netted from the spot midway through the
first-half.

Catania were out of sight after 28 minutes when Gomez netted from close range
and the Argentinian teed up Pablo Barrientos to seal the rout after the
interval.

The victory was Catania's fourth victory from six matches at the Stadio Angelo
Massimino while Lazio's wretched run continues.

Pescara picked up their first win in over a month thanks to Elvis Abbruscato's first goal of the season and a late strike from Vladimir Weiss ensured a 2-0 win against Parma.

It was only Pescara's second victory in front of their own fans this season, coming much to the relief of their under-fire coach Giovanni Stroppa, with both goals arriving in the second half.

Parma missed the chance to join Fiorentina in fifth place as their three-game winning streak came to an end in Abruzzo.

Sampdoria lost their sixth game in a row to increase the pressure on coach Ciro Ferrara with a 2-1 reverse at home to Atalanta.

Giacomo Bonaventura gave the visitors the lead in the second minute, but Enzo Maresca levelled for the Blucerchiati early in the second half.

Giuseppe De Luca put the Bergamese side in front again in the 76th minute and they withstood a late rally from Samp to take all three points at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
