The Colorado Rapids signed forward Conor Casey to a three-year deal following a season in which he set a franchise record with 16 goals.

Casey was named to Major League Soccer's Best XI squad in 2009, along with earning All-Star honors.

The 28-year-old Casey has 20 career caps with the U.S. national team, including a two-goal performance against Honduras last October that helped the Americans clinch a spot in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Casey grew up in Denver, before playing at the University of Portland. He started his pro career in Germany, then signed with Toronto FC of the MLS in 2007.

Soon after, Casey was acquired by Colorado. He has scored 29 goals in 60 games with the Rapids and ranks fourth all-time in team scoring.
