Capello: No blame over Wilshere
Wilshere has been ruled out for up to three months after failing to recover from the ankle injury he aggravated during a pre-season game in July. The original problem was sustained in the Euro 2012 qualifier between England and Switzerland in June. And, faced with a lengthy injury list and the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri there are some at the Gunners who have voiced concern about the treatment Wilshere has received on England duty. Capello does not understand the argument and is adamant there is no need to feel any remorse. "When I selected him, he was fit," said the England coach. "During a game, it can happen, it's normal. People get shoulder, knee, head injuries. Something can happen in a tackle. It happened. "When he started the game he was fit. If he hadn't been, he wouldn't have played." The FA are desperate to avoid any suggestion of disagreement between their own medical staff and Arsenal's, although that former long-serving Gunners physio Gary Lewin is now a full-time member of the England staff should ease any tensions. However, Capello points to a similar problem Wilshere suffered in 2009 as evidence to back up his own defence, in addition to highlighting the midfielder's post-season holiday. "I spoke with the doctor," he said. "I know that he suffered the same two years ago. "It's true he suffered this accident against Switzerland. Afterwards he went on holiday. "It's not my job to say what happened but I hope he will be fit in a really short time for Arsenal and for us because he is a really important player for both." Although Wilshere is a certain absentee from next month's trip to Montenegro, Arsenal are hopeful of the 19-year-old being back in action not long afterwards, which would make him available for the majority of his club side's Champions League group stage campaign and also England's November fixtures, which could yet be a two-legged Euro 2012 play-off.
