Ricketts scored from a quick free kick, taken while Ecuador's players argued with the referee.
Christian Benitez and Michael Arroyo found the net for Ecuador, while Terry Dunfield scored his first international goal for Canada.
The match was Canada's final warm up before the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
