Sunderland says Albania midfielder Lorik Cana has left the club to join Turkish side Galatasaray.
The English Premier League club says it has agreed a fee in excess of 6 million euros (5 million pounds) with Galatasaray for the 26-year-old Cana, who captained Sunderland last season.
Cana made 35 appearances for Sunderland, which he joined last summer from French club Marseille.
Cana told Sunderland's website Thursday that he saw the move as a chance to be ``closer to my family,'' adding that he was also tempted by the opportunity to play in the Champions League with Galatasaray next season.
