Henrique Calisto quit Wednesday as head coach of Vietnam's national football team to take a job as coach of Muangthong United in Thailand.

Vietnam Football Federation vice-president Le Hung Dung said the federation agreed to an early termination of Calisto's contract, which was supposed to run through to March 2013.

Dung says ''We wanted to keep him, but he wanted to leave.''

Wednesday's Tuoi Tre newspaper quoted Calisto as saying he was quitting because ''I'm fully aware that I'm not trusted while working here.''
