Cahill focused on Trotters
The defender's future at the Reebok has been cast into doubt after the club revealed that their financial losses had doubled over the past 12 months. Trotters chairman Phil Gartside has also conceded the club may have to sell Cahill in the January transfer window in order to help balance the books if a big team make an offer. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been linked with the 24-year-old, who made his England debut against Bulgaria earlier this season. But rather than have his head turned by the reported interest in his services, the former Aston Villa defender wants to focus on his commitments for Bolton. "I'm contracted to Bolton Wanderers and I'm enjoying my football and my time here," said Cahill. "It [the speculation] goes over my head and is out of my control so really it's a bit repetitive and if it's spoken about, it's spoken about." He added: "The whole reason why I left Villa was because I needed to play games and the only way I was going to improve was by playing. "I'm a much better player than I was then. I've cut out mistakes and things I used to do like going to ground in tackles in the box. "I just need to keep my head down and keep focused on the job I've got to do at Bolton. It's a real joy to be part of the team at the moment."
