Butland was between the posts for Blues in their 1-1 opening day draw with League One champions Charlton at St Andrew's.
It remains a curiosity that Butland travelled to Euro 2012, played at the Olympics and made his England debut against Italy all before making an appearance above League Two level.
But the 19-year-old is keen to put that statistic behind him as he sets about notching up as many appearances as he can for Lee Clark's men this season.
Butland, quoted in The Sun, said: "There is nothing more important for me at the moment than staying put and playing games.
"I'm still only 19 and there is no rush. I don't know how many 19-year-olds are playing in the Championship - there's certainly not many in the Premier League.
"I know I have the chance to play games here and that's important. Hopefully it will keep me in the England set-up.
"If I was to move and I wasn't getting games, it would hit my chances with the international side."
Although a highly-rated young goalkeeper, Butland's rise to prominence was astonishing this summer following John Ruddy's withdrawal from the European Championship through injury.
That led to Butland being named in Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad to travel to Poland and Ukraine - beginning a whirlwind couple of months for the Bristol-born keeper.
"It was an interesting and exciting summer," added Butland.
"But it was 'he hasn't played for Birmingham yet' and that was doing my head in.
"I wanted to get it out of the way so people could stop going on about it."
