The Bulls raced into the lead in the eighth minute when Stuart Fleetwood played in Richard Rose who drilled the ball past goalkeeper Kieron Mann from 25 yards. They went further in front in the 21st minute when Tyler Weir sent a through ball to Rob Purdy who chipped it over the top of Mann into the net. Hythe, however, hit back five minutes later when Gary Mickelborough latched onto a pass from Kieron Byrne before shooting through the legs of Hereford goalkeeper Adam Bartlett. But striker Mathieu Manset restored Hereford's lead six minutes before the interval with an overhead scissor-kick from a cross by Fleetwood. Frenchman Manset then grabbed Hereford's fourth in the 43rd minute when he rose high above the Hythe defence to head home a corner. Fleetwood hit the Hythe crossbar from eight yards, but he completed the Bulls' scoring with a close-range tap-in in the 90th minute.
