Bruce: We must be ready to scrap
Steve Bruce has called on his Sunderland side to match the effort
and endeavour he predicts will be shown by Barrow in the FA Cup
third round.
The Blue Square Premier League side earned a trip to the
Stadium of Light following a 3-1 replay victory over Oxford in the
second round.
Barrow, led by joint managers Dave Bayliss and Dave Sheridan,
are taking 7,200 supporters to Wearside to face a side 10th in the
Premier League.
Black Cats boss Bruce twice won the FA Cup with Manchester
United in 1990 and 1994. However, he does not expect Saturday's
opponents, who are 16th in the Blue Square Premier, to offer
anything other than a strong test.
Bruce said: "From the reports I have got on them, they are
genuine and honest and love a scrap, so we must make sure we match
that.
"If we do match all those things, which I am confident we
will do, then our ability should come through."
