Canada international Issey Nakajima-Farran and Albania's Besart Berisha scored two goals each as Brisbane beat Perth 4-0 to extend its unbeaten streak in Australian football's A-League to a record 36 games.
Brisbane's sixth win in eight matches preserved its six-point lead over Central Coast at the top of the 10-team league and surpassed the record 35-match unbeaten run of the Eastern Suburbs rugby league club in the 1947 season.
Brisbane coach Ange Postecolou said ''tonight epitomized the sort of football club we want to be.''
Central Coast beat the Melbourne Heart 3-1 to extend its unbeaten streak this season to five matches while Adelaide and Newcastle played out a 0-0 draw. The Melbourne Victory will play Gold Coast and Wellington will play Sydney FC in Sunday's matches.
Saturday's win was the 23rd in the streak and contained all the hallmarks of the 18-month unbeaten run: precision passing, attacking width and defensive pressure.
Berisha scored first in the 23rd minute when he finished a move which began with a flick from Henrique to Thomas Broich, who crossed perfectly for the striker. Broich also laid on the first for Nakajima-Farran 10 minutes later, providing a pass which allowed the Canadian to elude the defense and chip goalkeeper Danny Vukovic.
Nakajima-Farran had his second in the 41st minute with a fortunate deflection of a cross from Ivan Franjic.
Berisha made it 4-0 on the stroke of halftime, scoring for the ninth time this season to extend his lead at the top of the competition's scoring list after Broich and Henrique combined again at the top of the box.
''Sometimes when (big) opportunities come along it doesn't always work out but all forces came together today,'' Postecoglou said.
Central Coast and the Melbourne Heart looked set for a draw when a 78th-minute header to Melbourne substitute Eli Babalj canceled out Matt Simon's opener on the stroke of halftime.
But Daniel McBreen put the Mariners in front with an 82nd-minute penalty and veteran defender Patrick Zwaanswijk sealed the win minutes later, marking captain Alex Wilkinson's 150th A-League match.
''It was a difficult day at the office ... but sometimes when you don't play great you then have to rely on your set-pieces,'' Central Coast coach Graham Arnold said.
