Police say a supporter has been shot dead following a Brazilian football match that was interrupted by a swarm of bees and ended with a brawl between players on the pitch.

A 19-year-old Goias fan was killed outside Serra Dourada stadium, which will host Brazil's friendly against the Netherlands in June, following Sunday's semifinal between Goias and Vila Nova in the Goiania state championship.

The match was stopped for 20 minutes in the first half to allow firefighters to remove a swarm of bees around Goias' goal.

A brutal fight involving several players erupted after the game, apparently caused by Goias' celebrations at reaching the final after the match was drawn 2-2. It took police officers 15 minutes to break up the brawl.
