Brazil tribunal refuses to annul Palmeiras match
Brazil's sports tribunal has ruled against cancelling Palmeiras' 2-1 loss to Internacional in the Brazilian league despite claims the referee used television images to disallow what could have been the team's equalizer.
The tribunal said on Thursday there was not enough evidence presented by Palmeiras to annul the result.
Argentine striker Hernan Barcos used his hand to score the second-half equalizer, which stood for several minutes until the referee reversed the call after talking to his assistants on the sideline. A TV reporter said a match delegate asked the media if replays showed the handball.
Palmeiras, the team with the most Brazilian titles, desperately hoped to get to replay the match as it's in danger of relegation. The club is seven points from safety with four rounds left.
