Bowyer talks set for season's end

Bowyer, who is out of contract in June, held initial discussions last summer with Blues over a new deal. But talks became protracted and were put on ice. Bowyer claimed after City's Carling Cup final triumph over Arsenal on Sunday that he would have to look for a new club. But McLeish is adamant nothing has been decided one way or the other at this juncture. When asked if he wants the 34-year-old to remain for another season, McLeish said: "We did speak in the summer but the talks dragged on too long. "It ended up that, in terms of our finances for that particular period of time, they had dried up and the goalposts had moved. "We said 'look, we will address it again at the end of the season'. There are no doors closed on anyone." Bowyer joined Birmingham two years ago from West Ham after an initial loan spell and has been a key figure in them becoming established in the Premier League. He was one of City's star performers against the Gunners in helping them win their first major trophy for 48 years. Meanwhile, McLeish wants to "draw a line" under the incident involving Barry Ferguson and Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny after Obafemi Martins' late winner in the Carling Cup final. Television replays appeared to show Ferguson slap Koscielny on the side of the head before celebrating with the rest of the City players. Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere tweeted his displeasure at the incident the day after his side's 2-1 setback. But McLeish said: "I am not going to comment on it. It is not my world, the Twitter and all that stuff. Cyber bullying is not for me!" When asked if Ferguson's actions were acceptable, McLeish said: I don't want to comment on it. It has moved forward now. "I am only going to create more headlines and someone from Arsenal is going to say something in response and it will go on and on. "Draw a line under it and we will move forward."
