Bolton Wanderers could be without star midfielder Chung-Yong Lee for January due to the Asian Cup.

Similar to the African Cup of Nations, clubs are expected to release players for the Asian Cup - a major inconvenience for managers as the tournament takes place during one of the busiest times of the domestic season.

Trotters manager Owen Coyle admits he has had not contact with the South Korean national team as of yet, but will look at the situation when that time comes.

"I have had no contact regarding Chung-Yong Lee and participating in the Asian Cup," Coyle said.

"If and when that comes about, then it's something I will look at."

Bolton have made a fantastic start to the season and they currently occupy sixth, three points off the UEFA Champions League places.

Lee has been instrumental in their great run of form, scoring two goals and assisting on five occasions.
