Boca Juniors perfect after 3 games; share lead in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) Boca Juniors defeated Atletico Rafaela 1-0 on Sunday to share first place in the Argentine first division with Estudiantes and Rosario Central.

Jonathan Calleri scored in the 18th minute for Boca, giving the famous Buenos Aires club nine points in three matches this season.

Estudiantes defeated Gimnasia 3-1, and Rosario Central downed Crucero del Norte 1-0 on Saturday.

Velez Sarsfield has won its first two games and could reach nine points with a victory Monday at Newell's

In other matches Sunday, defending champion Racing defeated Temperley 2-1, and Argentinos Juniors beat Defensa y Justicia 1-0.

Argentina's first division has expanded to 30 teams this season with play wrapping up in November. It has abandoned the split season used by most Latin American countries.
