Boca Juniors increase lead in Argentina
Boca Juniors stayed on top in Argentina on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Tigre, keeping one of Argentina's most popular clubs on pace to win it first league title since 2008.
The difference was an own-goal by Diego Castano in the 14th.
Boca has 24 points in 10 matches and is putting distance between itself and everyone else.
Newly promoted Rafaela has 19 points following a 2-1 victory over Lanus on Saturday, and Racing is next with 18 following a 1-1 draw on Sunday with Independiente.
Boca went ahead at its La Bombonera stadium through Catano's own-goal. Juan Roman Riquelme's long free kick found Diego Rivero who crossed the ball in front of the net with Castano accidentally tapping it in.
Earlier on Sunday, Racing slipped to is sixth draw in 10 matches. Racing took a 1-0 lead in the opening minute on Gabriel Hauche's goal, but Facundo Parra equalized in the 27th.
Also on Sunday, Olimpo defeated All Boys 2-1. Andres Francola scored the winner for Olimpo in the 77th. Earlier, Julio Furch gave Olimpo a 1-0 lead in the 27th with Mauro Matos equalizing in the 42nd.
In a late Sunday match, Colon drew with Estudiantes 1-1.
On Saturday, Rafaela defeated Lanus 2-1 and Velez won over San Martin 1-0.
Rafaela's Fabricio Fontanini and Federico Gonzalez scored second-half goals to overcome Mario Regueiro's 19th minute goal for Lanus.
Ezequiel Rescaldani scored a second-half goal in Velez's victory.
On Friday, Juan Morales and Roberto Brum scored in Argentinos 2-1 victory over Belgrano. Federico Almerares scored late for Belgrano.
On Monday, it's Arsenal playing Union, Godoy Cruz facing San Lorenzo and Banfield against Newell's.
