But sources close to City insist reports that a £4 million transfer has already been struck with Lens are premature and that any possible deal is a long way from being finalised. McLeish has made no secret of his desire to bring in a new forward before the transfer window closes and has been linked with a host of players. Ivory Coast international Dindane joined Portsmouth in August on a one-year deal and has scored four goals in 10 appearances for the Premier League strugglers. He began his career with Ivory Coast club ASEC Mimosas before moving to RSC Anderlecht in 2000 and then joined Lens in June 2005. Dindane won the first of his 51 international caps a decade ago and participated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, scoring twice against Serbia and Montenegro. He also represented his country at the 2006 and 2008 African Nations Cup tournaments. McLeish has so far signed Sporting Gijon playmaker Michel and Aston Villa midfielder Craig Gardner during the January window.
