The Blues boss is reportedly preparing to table a bit for Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, thought to be in the region of £10million, while Rangers' Kris Boyd and Sunderland's Kenwyne Jones are also on his wish-list. Birmingham owner Carson Yeung is flying into England for City's game against Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday, and is set to have talks with McLeish. Although the Scotsman would not name his transfer targets, he did concede that he is in the hunt for a forward. "I am trying my best (to sign a new striker)," he said in the Daily Express. "I have asked the board for one or two players and I'm waiting on the go-ahead. "I've told them who I want and it's up to them now. I'm not going to say any names, but we've certainly targeted one or two pretty decent centre-forwards. "We need to help the rest of the squad by bringing in another striker. "I've always said that I didn't need to spend £20million or £40million. But we need to spend some money. "We need a striker. We were running on empty at the weekend, when a 17-year-old (Jake Jervis) came on late in the game. It's great for the kid but we need to bolster the squad." In-form Blues are unbeaten in their last 15 matches, but McLeish is expected to spend some of his £40million transfer kitty before the end of January. He added: "The board have put lots of players' names to me, but it's along the lines of, 'what do you think?' It's not, 'We want you to take this guy.' "I don't know enough about these players, I don't know if they can settle. "I want to bring in players that I know and am sure will make this club better."
