Jason Roberts' penalty close to the interval was all Rovers had to show for their domination and just past the hour they were made to pay by David Mooney's equaliser. However, the home side responded with goals in quick succession from Ruben Rochina and summer signing Simon Vukcevic and even a late consolation from Dean Cox could not prevent Blackburn registering back-to-back wins for the first time since January 8. "I thought we made hard going of it and I wasn't too pleased with how we played the first half," said Kean. "We were a bit slow with our passing, there were too many backwards and square and when Orient had it we didn't show enough intensity to get it back so I thought we were poor. "But reflecting on the whole game, when they came back into it we should have been four or five goals in front. "But for poor finishing and a good goalkeeping performance I think the game would have been out of sight. "I felt we had the possession but we didn't get it out wide." Kean made eight changes from the team which beat Arsenal at the weekend, with the likes of Nick Blackman and Vukcevic making their first starts for the club and Vince Grella playing his first game since February. But even so, the Rovers boss did not think they provided any excuse. "A lot of those players needed a game - certainly Radosav Petrovic, Vince Grella and Vukcevic - but they are training and can compete at a very high level," he added. "I think they should have been taking more responsibility and I said that to them at half-time and they did much better after that." Orient boss Russell Slade felt had his side managed to keep things level for longer they would have stood a chance but he was far from disappointed by the result. "We came here under difficult circumstances for a League One club striving to get their first win in the league and we had eight players injured, three of them goalkeepers," he said. "The important thing was to stay in the game and I think we did for long periods. "We know they were capable of going forward and hurting us but even at 1-1 we knew it was going to be a difficult task. "It made contest of it and there were moments when maybe it could have been our night but fair credit to Blackburn. "The performance of Lee Butcher (Orient's goalkeeper) kept us in it."
