Sunderland striker Darren Bent could be sidelined for several weeks by the hamstring injury which kept him out of the 2-0 victory over Stoke.

The England international was due to have another scan on the problem, which he picked up in training on Friday, on Monday and is extremely unlikely to be involved in Tuesday night's Premier League trip to Tottenham.

The injury almost certainly means the striker will miss England's friendly clash with France later this month at Wembley.
