National team manager Oliver Bierhoff says Germany will face tough competition from Brazil, Spain and England when it aims for a fourth World Cup title in South Africa.

Bierhoff told Saturday's edition of Bild that Germany's minimum target is always the quarterfinal, but that "a nation like Germany must go into the World Cup with the aim of taking the title."

Asked who his favorites are, Bierhoff said: "Brazil, Spain, also England under coach (Fabio) Capello; then comes Germany."

He added: "I see us on a level with Argentina and Italy, but I also think Ivory Coast is very strong."

Coach Joachim Loew's team topped its qualifying group for the June 11-July 11 tournament, where it faces Australia, Serbia and Ghana in the group phase.
