Spanish police say Karim Benzema has been fined for reckless driving after the Real Madrid striker was caught racing his luxury car through Ibiza's city center late Wednesday night.

A police official told The Associated Press on Thursday that the France international and two other drivers were charged with the infraction after they had raced a Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini in the capital of the Mediterranean island.

Police said Benzema paid the ?250 ($350) fine in cash on the spot.

Police said Benzema was judged not to have been drinking and was therefore not given an alcohol test.
