Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has poured cold water on "crazy" stories he could be forced to quit the game because of a groin injury.

However, the 22-year-old Denmark striker has rubbished reports he could be forced to hang up his boots.

"It's crazy to hear such stories, I can completely dismiss it," Bendtner told www.Sporten.dk.

"I have been worried during the injury spell, but there has never been mentioned that it could stop my career.

"I can't understand where this rumour comes from. It's nasty and quite shocking."

While a date has not been set for his return, Bendtner remains positive for the season ahead.

"I am looking forward now and there is a lot to look forward to," he said.

"I am expecting to be fit for a comeback within a not too distant future, but I have not set a date.

"Arsenal and I have worked out a timetable which I am following, but we are keeping the details to ourselves."
