Daniel Van Buyten scored to help give Belgium a 2-1 win over Romania in an international friendly on Friday.

Van Buyten's opened the scoring in the 11th minute when the Bayern Munich defender rose above the Romanian defense to head in a corner kick past goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu. Belgium doubled the lead through an own goal in the 43rd after fullback Anthony Vanden Borre's shot from the right was deflected by Romania defender Razvan Cocis into the net.

Belgium dominated the first half and had a series of clear scoring opportunities.

Romania was more aggressive in the fast-paced second half, and Daniel Niculae scored in the 65th after a scramble in the penalty area. Belgium goalkeeper Jean-Francois Gillet then secured the win by saving a penalty from Razvan Rat three minutes from time.
