Bayern's Goetze out with ankle injury
Germany midfielder Mario Goetze faces several weeks on the sidelines after injuring his right ankle during Bayern Munich's UEFA Super Cup victory over Chelsea.
Bayern said Saturday that Goetze was injured in a tackle. He'll have to wear plaster for a week and will be able to return to full training 10-14 days after that.
Goetze, signed from Bundesliga rival Borussia Dortmund, made his competitive debut for Bayern a week ago after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Germany had called up Goetze for World Cup qualifiers against Austria Sept. 6 and the Faeroe Islands four days later. Fellow Bayern midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger earlier Saturday withdrew from those matches, also with an ankle injury.
Bayern says Javi Martinez and Arjen Robben will miss training for several days with less severe knee injuries.
