Bayern threatens to sue Dutch FA
Bayern Munich have vowed to report the Dutch federation to UEFA after captain Mark van Bommel returned to Germany injured after national team duty.
The Bundesliga champions insisted before Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualifier with Sweden that the midfielder should not play after he suffered an injury against Moldova on Friday.
However, Van Bommel's coach and father-in-law Bert van Marwijk opted to play him anyway, for 70 minutes, with the player returning to his club with a knee injury which keeps him out of their next two games.
A statement from the Bavarian giants, who said Van Bommel needs "complete rest" for five days before five days' light training, said: "Mark van Bommel returned to Munich this Wednesday. He was examined by the club's doctor, Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, who noticed the injuries.
"He will therefore be missing at least for the Bundesliga game against Hanover and the Champions League tie with CFR Cluj.
"The club is going to make UEFA aware of this affair in the coming days and is keeping open the possibility of legal action against the KNVB."
This is the latest development in an already heated row between the club and country, who fell out over Arjen Robben's World Cup participation.
