Bayern Munich signs Spanish defender Juan Bernat from Valencia
Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Spanish defender Juan Bernat from Valencia for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions after passing a medical in Munich on Monday.
"We're very happy to have found a very good, quick solution both with the player and with Valencia," said Bayern's vice-president Jan-Christian Dreesen.
"Juan Bernat will return to Valencia to say goodbye to his former team-mates on Tuesday evening and then he will be in Munich on Thursday."
Bayern's director of sport Matthias Sammer added: "Juan Bernat is an extraordinary young player who we've been following for a while.
"He's quick, strong in the tackle and has an extremely good eye for goal.
"We are sure that, by signing Juan Bernat, we will have made a very good investment for the future. He's very welcome at Bayern Munich."
The Spain Under-21 international becomes the third Spanish player on Bayern's books, joining Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez in the service of Pep Guardiola.
"I'm really happy that I will be able to play at this club," he said after signing his contract with the Bavarians.
"Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and the world and I'm really, really pleased to play in a team with players like (Philipp) Lahm, (Manuel) Neuer, (Bastian) Schweinsteiger, (Arjen) Robben and (Franck) Ribery, and to have Pep Guardiola as coach.
"I will give everything to be successful with this club."
