Holders Bayern Munich beat Hannover for the second time in 11 days. After winning 2-0 in the Bundesliga, the Bavarians saw off Mirko Slomka's side by a 4-1 scoreline at the Allianz Arena.
Thomas Muller, who scored a hat-trick in the opening round, grabbed a brace with the Bundesliga's all-time top foreign goalscorer Claudio Pizarro also on target. Franck Ribery completed the rout to take Bayern through while Didier Ya Konan scored Hannover's consolation.
