Bayern continues German Cup defense
Bayern Munich continued their defense of the DFB-Pokal with a 4-1 win over Hannover, while Hertha Berlin became the latest Bundesliga side to be dumped out after being beaten 3-1 by Kaiserslautern.
Holders Bayern Munich beat Hannover for the second time in 11 days. After winning 2-0 in the Bundesliga, the Bavarians saw off Mirko Slomka's side by a 4-1 scoreline at the Allianz Arena.
Thomas Muller, who scored a hat-trick in the opening round, grabbed a brace with the Bundesliga's all-time top foreign goalscorer Claudio Pizarro also on target. Franck Ribery completed the rout to take Bayern through while Didier Ya Konan scored Hannover's consolation.

In the night's other all-Bundesliga affair, Freiburg gained revenge for their semi-final defeat to Stuttgart last season by winning 2-1 against the Swabians, thanks to goals from Matthias Ginter and Mike Hanke. Vedad Ibisevic hit Stuttgart's consolation.
