Defending champion Bayern Munich came alive with three goals in the second half to beat Freiburg 4-2 in the Bundesliga on Friday.

After Martin Demichelis gave Bayern a 1-0 halftime lead, Mario Gomez, Anatoliy Timoshchuk and Toni Kroos added goals to secure Bayern's 10th straight win over Freiburg. Danijel Pranjic set up three goals for Bayern.

"I am pleased with the result, but not the way we played in the first half," Bayern coach Louis van Gaal said. "We played better in the second half but we also gave away two easy goals."

Stefan Reisinger notched one for Freiburg and Bayern defender Edson Braafheid conceded a late own goal for the final score.

It was Bayern's highest scoring game of the season.

Bayern lost central defender Holger Badstuber shortly before the match to a pubic bone injury. Demichelis, who has played rarely this season, replaced Badstuber and rose for a perfectly timed, powerful header off a corner from Pranjic in the 39th.

Gomez connected with another corner from Pranjic with a header from close range in the 61st.

But only three minutes later, Reisinger scored with his first touch when he beat Demichelis to the ball and headed past Joerg Butt. Reisinger had come off the bench in the 62nd.

Bayern then executed a textbook counterattack, with Pranjic again supplying the decisive pass for Timoshchuk to slot inside the post.

Toni Kroos buried a powerful long-range drive in the 80th, before Braafheid diverted a cross into his own net.
