Bardsley has been subject to transfer speculation after the right-back said last season he would consider a move away from the Stadium of Light should he fail to play regular first-team football at the club. The expected arrival of Estudiantes star Marcos Angeleri has only heightened talk that the ex-Manchester United man could leave the Black Cats, however his representative has suggested otherwise. Agent Des Wroe said the 24-year-old was aware he faced competition for his place in Bruce's side but not had no intention of moving. But he did reveal that should any bid be accepted by Sunderland, then Bardsley may consider leaving, although a move would not be his preferred option. Wroe told The Journal: "Of course Phil wants to play first-team football which is no different from any other player. "But Phil will happily go back to Sunderland in pre-season and fight it out with any new signings that Steve Bruce decides to make in his position. "Phil loves being at Sunderland - he loves the club and I don't think he would want to move in an ideal world. "It's a good club and he's certainly not got a problem with anyone there. He's a positive lad and he'll go in and have confidence that he can prove his worth to the manager. "I think if someone comes in for him and Sunderland accept a bid then obviously that may change, but Phil will happily be back at the club over the summer."
