Dani Alves insists it would be stupid of him not to keep his options open as his contract with Barcelona enters its final 18 months.

The all-action Brazilian is under contract at the Nou Camp until June 2012, but has been linked in the Spanish press with Manchester City.

The 27-year-old told Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola: "My priority is Barcelona, but I cannot close doors. I feel happy, but both sides have to agree."

Alves also stoked up the rivalry with Real Madrid a little further by describing their £80million forward Cristiano Ronaldo as "a little arrogant".

He said: "I think the best player in the world should be a quiet kid, humble, friendly... and (Lionel) Messi has all that, while Cristiano often lacks these qualities.

"To be the best player in the world you don't just have to play well, you also need to be liked by people, and I understand sometimes his attitude damages a little the great player he really is."
