Banton deal pleases Sheridan
Huddersfield teenager Jake Charles has signed his first professional contract with the club on his 17th birthday.
Charles, from the famous Welsh footballing family, has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2014.
"We're all really pleased for Jake, he works hard and is a great prospect," the club's Academy manager Mark Lillis told the official website.
"The opportunity for young players here is so clear and strong and parents and players can see that.
"We believe the pathways from Academy to professional and first-team level are - and will continue to be - very attractive."
Charles, who joined Town from Garforth Villa as an 11-year-old, has five Wales Under-17s caps and has scored three goals in 14 games for the club's Under-18s this season.
The Dons currently have Jesse Darko, Brennan Dickenson, Jonathan Meades, Neil Sullivan and Gary Alexander on loan.
But Ardley has a host of injury concerns ahead of Saturday's tough trip to Cheltenham and admits he may have to dip into the market again next week.
"We need to get through Saturday, see how one or two of the injuries are and then make some decisions based on that," he told the Dons' website.
"We've got one or two we are potentially looking at but it's got to be right and we are not just bringing in players for the sake of it."
The League Two club expect the midfielder, 20, to miss four or five weeks with the injury.
Manager Paul Cook told the club's official website: "Last week against Gillingham we suspected for a while that he's not moving freely.
"Unfortunately, he's got the injury he's got. We can't do anything about it."
Spireites winger Tendayi Darikwa has been out for a month with the same problem.
Sheridan believes the youngster can continue to be a matchwinner for the struggling Pilgrims.
The winger, 21, has scored three goals in five games since his arrival from Selhurst Park, and Sheridan is hopeful he will shake off a thigh injury to line up at Home Park this weekend.
And ahead of the vital clash with fellow strugglers Barnet, Sheridan pinpointed just what he brings to the Argyle attack.
"He is one of those players who is positive in the way he plays," he said. "He believes and thinks he is a good player and that is a good thing for me. I like players believing in themselves.
"He is positive in the way he plays and when he gets the ball he wants to attack players.
"Jason has scored three goals since he has been here and has been a real plus for us. He is an important player and he is a matchwinner. I'd like him to get involved in games even more."
Sheridan, whose side are currently rock bottom of the Football League, also confirmed that Yeovil striker Reuben Reid will remain with the club for a second month.
