Gareth Bale will not make his home debut for Real Madrid after getting hurt during warm-ups for the Spanish league match against Getafe.

Gareth Bale, who joined Madrid on a world-record transfer at the close of the offseason transfer market, injured his leg during the warm-up for Sunday's Spanish league match against Getafe.

The Wales winger had scored one goal in two games for Madrid, both away from home, and he was set to make his debut at packed Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Bale was originally in Madrid's starting lineup but was removed from the squad after Madrid's medical staff was seen checking his left thigh.

Madrid didn't miss him as Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals in a 4-1 rout.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said after the win that Bale's injury didn't appear to be serious and that he would undergo tests on Monday.

''Bale had a small problem during the warm-up,'' Ancelotti said. ''We can't call it an injury, but the doctors don't know yet. We don't think it's a big problem, but tomorrow he will have a scan and we'll see what he has.

''Bale) wasn't comfortable or calm. I preferred to avoid any problems. He isn't happy because he was very excited to play in the Bernabeu.''

France defender Raphael Varane, who was returning from a long injury layoff, replaced Bale in the squad, while Francisco ''Isco'' Alarcon took his spot in the starting 11 and scored a goal.

Ancelotti said it is unlikely that Bale would be fit to play at Elche on Wednesday.

The next chance Madrid's fans will have to see Bale at home will be next Saturday against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital derby.

Madrid broke its own record by paying Tottenham 100 million euros ($132 million) for Bale.
