AW won't block Olympic hopefuls
The English Football Association are set to write to every potential player for Team GB from all the Home nations to ask if they would be prepared to play next summer. However, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are concerned any representation would damage their individual status within FIFA, the world governing body. There are several Arsenal players who would be eligible for the GB squad, set to be managed by Stuart Pearce - including Wales captain Aaron Ramsey and England midfielder Jack Wilshere. Despite the possibility of a clash between the build-up to the new domestic season and next summer's event, Wenger suggested it was a matter for the countries rather than the clubs to sort out. "I think it is a federation, the FA who will decide that," the Arsenal manager said. "They have the rules in their favour and we do not have much input in that."
