Austria will likely miss injured defensive midfielder David Alaba for both of its 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan this month.

The Bayern Munich player, recovering from breaking his foot in July, was left out of the 23-man squad announced by Austria coach Marcel Koller on Tuesday.

Alaba will not travel to Astana for the Oct. 12 match but Koller said he might consider adding the midfielder for the return game in Vienna four days later.

Koller made just one change to the team that lost its opening Group C game against Germany last month as Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann received his first call-up to replace Mattersburg striker Patrick Buerger.
