Spurs have even been tipped to challenge for the title in some quarters after enjoying a splendid run of form since losing their opening two games of the season. Nine wins and a draw from their past 10 matches have lifted Tottenham to second in the standings, and they can apply even more pressure on Manchester United and Manchester City by beating Bolton at White Hart Lane on Saturday. One feature of Spurs' success has been their dynamic and well-balanced midfield, with Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon providing pace down the flanks and the commitment of summer signing Scott Parker perfectly complementing Luka Modric's guile in the centre. Assou-Ekotto insists that Tottenham have not had a better side in his five-and-a-half years at the club, and is confident of finishing in the top four. "This is the best team since I have arrived here," said the Cameroon international in the Daily Mirror. "We have done things as a team no other team has done in 10, 20 or 30 years. "And the level of the Premier League is always improving. When you have rich investors, you have got to have a good team and it raises the level. We have managed to do good things." Assou-Ekotto added: "To say we have the best midfield might be a bit pretentious but I think we are the strongest in our attacking style. "Not many teams have really quick wingers like Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale [and] a player like Luka Modric and a guy like Scott Parker, who runs for three men. "To finish in the top four - everyone would be happy. There will be the light of the Champions League."
