Marco Perez scored with an overhead kick to give relegation-threatened Gimnasia La Plata a 1-0 home win over Boca Juniors in the Argentine Clausura tournament on Sunday.

San Lorenzo had a 3-0 win over local rivals Huracan, while the match between Rosario Central and Newell's Old Boys finished 1-1. Racing Club came from behind to beat Velez Sarsfield 3-1 in the day's final match.

Estudiantes La Plata and Independiente lead the standings with 30 points from 15 matches, though Argentinos Juniors can go to the top if they win at Arsenal de Sarandi on Monday.

Boca, enduring one of the worst seasons in its history, is still without an away win in the Clausura tournament after Perez volleyed the winning goal for Gimnasia in the 59th minute.

Another turbulent week for Boca started with a 4-0 victory over Arsenal on Monday in Roberto Pompei's first match as manager since replacing the sacked Abel Alves.

But further evidence of the rift between star players Juan Roman Riquelme and Martin Palermo surfaced later in the week, souring the preparations for the match with Gimnasia.

Palermo played, but Riquelme missed the match with a knee injury and Boca's attack looked limp without the playmaker's promptings.

The win for Gimnasia helped move the club away from the automatic drop zone in the table of average points used to decide relegation.

Elsewhere, Alejandro Gomez opened the scoring for San Lorenzo against Huracan with a right-footed shot in the 22nd minute.

Fabian Bordagaray rounded the keeper to score the second in the 70th minute and Cristian Leiva finished the scoring with a lob in the 73rd.

In the match between Central and Newell's, both teams ended the match with nine players.

Diego Braghieri gave Central the lead from close range following a corner in the third minute, but Nahuel Valentini fouled Cristian Nunez in the box and Rolando Schiavi equalized for Newell's from the 17th-minute penalty.

Central's Mario Paglialunga and Valentini were sent off, as were Lucas Bernardi and Nunez of Newell's, but neither side could use the extra space to find a winning goal.

In the day's final match, Fernando Tobio gave Velez the lead in the 41st minute, but Ricardo Alvarez was shown a red card in the 69th minute and Racing took full advantage of the extra player with three goals in five minutes.

Pablo Luguercio equalized in the 76th, Claudio Yacob put Racing ahead two minutes later and Claudio Bieler completed the victory with a third in the 81st.

In results Saturday it was: Chacarita Juniors 1, Atletico Tucuman 2; Tigre 1, Estudiantes 2; Banfield 1, Independiente 3; River Plate 2, Godoy Cruz 1.

On Monday, it's Arsenal vs. Argentinos Juniors and Colon vs. Lanus.
