Appiah on bench in Ghana-Serbia WCup game
Stephen Appiah was on the bench when Ghana announced its lineup to face Serbia in the opening Group D game Sunday.
The 29-year-old midfielder lost out as the Ghanians fielded an adventurous 4-3-3 formation at Loftus Versfeld. Sulley Muntari was left out as he continues to recover from a left thigh injury.
There were no big surprises in the Serbia lineup, with the 2.03-meter (6-foot-8) Nikola Zigic leading the attack.
