Anfield win still pleases Ollie

The Seasiders caused one of the shocks of the Premier League season when they triumphed at Anfield, with goals from Charlie Adam and Luke Varney before the interval setting them on their way to a 2-1 win. Holloway's team have continued to go from strength to strength since then and welcome the Merseysiders to Bloomfield Road - weather permitting - on Sunday sitting 10th in the table. Following their promotion via the Championship play-offs in May, Blackpool have defied expectation with their progress in the top flight and their manager feels the belief his players showed when racing into that 2-0 lead against Liverpool is getting ever stronger. "It's the best any side I've ever had have played I think," Holloway told the club's website. "I thought we were terrific. Then we had a little spell where they came and played about as well as they can. "We managed to stem them off, they only scored one goal and by the end of the game, apart from one save Gillo (Matt Gilks) had to make, I thought we looked really professional. "We looked like were a threat when we went the other way, and we soaked up what they did. "I thought it was fantastic and I'll never forget the following morning when I woke up and thought 'I've just been to Anfield, I've heard their crowd sing that wonderful song You'll Never Walk Alone - which was my Dad's favourite - and we actually beat them.' "Now we are starting to believe that we deserve those types of performances and results, so long may it continue." Blackpool were thrashed by both Arsenal and Chelsea prior to the win at Anfield and in recent weeks they have had home fixtures against Manchester United and Tottenham postponed due to the freezing conditions. It has left Holloway eager to pit his side against one of the division's biggest teams again so he can see how much his players are developing at the higher level. He said: "The lads are learning. They have got to learn how good they are and what can succeed at this level. "It's very different and if you give the teams the ball, they will try and pass their way through you rather than lumping it into the box. "It is a totally different sort of defending, and we got it wrong the first few times we faced those people, but I think we are getting better and I would like to play them again. "We've missed out on the biggest test so far which is Manchester United, then we missed out on a team that is so in form it's unbelievable, in Tottenham. "Now, I don't want to miss out against a resurgent Liverpool - and we need a game. Honestly, we're all going stir crazy here." Holloway offered his thanks to the club's fans, whose continued support he believes makes anything possible. "Keep cheering us, because it is the best trip I've ever been on and I don't ever want it to stop," Holloway said. "We won't be happy until we are at this level again next year. "It was a dream and everyone thought we were crazy, but (former Liverpool manager) Bill Shankly started somewhere. They were a second division team when he started and they won the equivalent of the Champions League - so why can't Blackpool? "With you lot behind us, I can't see anything stopping us."
