Jozy Altidore scored a tying goal in the 79th minute, giving Villarreal a 2-2 exhibition draw against Turkey's Besiktas on Sunday.
The 20-year-old American forward, who spent last season on loan from Villarreal to England's Hull, scored with a right-footed volley from 6 yards off a cross.
Altidore, a starter for the U.S. World Cup team, is on the American roster for Tuesday's exhibition against Brazil at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Defender Carlos Marchena, a member of Spain's World Cup champions, played his first match for Villarreal after transferring from Valencia.
