The Spain Under-19 international, who can also play in midfield, will switch to the Trotters for an undisclosed fee from Real Madrid. Alonso was unable to break into the first team at the Bernabeu, although he did make one appearance for Los Merengues. He is thought set to seal a deal worth £1.6million, and has reportedly turned down a move to Benfica who were also interested in his signature. But Bolton have been trailing the youngster for some time now, and he is keen to test himself in the Premier League. Alonso is expected to put pen-to-paper at Wanderers' training ground on Tuesday, where he will become manager Owen Coyle's latest signing of the summer.
