Al Wahda beat Diego Maradona's Al Wasl 2-0 Sunday, ending its chances of qualifying for an Asian Champions League spot next season.
Al Wasl needed a win to remain in contention for one of four spots for United Arab Emirates clubs. The loss comes days after Maradona confirmed he would remain as coach for next season after complaining he lacked the players to compete.
Al Wasl controlled the first half play but it was Al Wahda which made the most of its chances.
Midfielder Salem Saleh sent a cross to Brazilian striker Hugo Henrique who headed the first goal in the 39th minute.
