Al Habsi: We've been unlucky
The Latics have stuck to their footballing philosophy throughout the 2010/11 campaign, with Roberto Martinez refusing to alter his approach. Results have not always reflected the effort put in by Wigan, with a lowly Premier League standing held for the majority of the season. A failure to pick up points on a regular basis has left them sweating on their top-flight status, with a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday not enough to carry them out of the drop zone. They now have just two fixtures remaining in which to haul themselves clear of trouble, starting with a crucial clash against fellow strugglers West Ham on Sunday. On-loan keeper Al Habsi is aware of just how important that game has become, but is confident Wigan will beat the drop if they persevere with their eye-catching passing game. "We really have been playing fantastic football for most of the season," he said. "We have been unlucky not to get the results we should have. The team and manager, everyone deserves to be playing in this league. "But we need the fans' help against West Ham. I would love them to fill the stadium - they can make a big difference."
