Rovers came close to snapping up the Bosnia international during the summer window, with a £6million fee having been agreed. There were, however, concerns over the 27-year-old's fitness, as he is currently nursing a thigh problem, and the plug was pulled on a deal late on. Blackburn boss Steve Kean said the offer was withdrawn because Rovers could not carry out the stringent medical they had planned, while reports also suggested Ibisevic was unable to get a visa in time to travel to England for a physical examination. Kean has hinted that he could return for the forward in January and Ibisevic's representative admits they would be willing to re-open discussions. "A lot can happen in six months but Blackburn was an interesting club," Andreas Sadlo said in the Lancashire Telegraph. "We checked the club - the infrastructure, the facilities - and it is interesting for us. "It was a possibility, there were negotiations but maybe it was not the right moment." Ibisevic is reported to have interested Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Brom in the past, with his goalscoring exploits in the Bundesliga drawing admiring glances from across Europe.
