Agent denies Maicon pay claims
Maicon's agent Antonio Caliendo insists the Inter Milan defender never demanded a pay rise and is happy to stay with the European champions.
The 29-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid where he would be reunited with former Inter boss Jose Mourinho.
However, Inter president Massimo Moratti revealed earlier this week Maicon has been taken off the transfer list and the Brazil full-back is now set to remain at the San Siro.
Caliendo has called for Moratti to meet with Maicon and clarify matters.
"I was a bit surprised by some stories, which made Maicon out to be a mercenary," Caliendo told Sky Italia.
"He accepted everything that Moratti decided, the president decided not to move forward in negotiations for the transfer, he has shown he would happily stay, he is attached to the Inter shirt, but from our part there is no demand for a pay increase, even though there were very important offers.
"I reconfirm that I think it's sensible for the president to call the player and explain why all this happened.
"I'm not talking of recognition, either moral or economic, but we must clarify the situation as a matter of relationships, also for the attachment that my client is showing to Inter.
"I read that Maicon is asking for six million a year: I never talked about money in my life, and if we were to make demands we would not make them on television, but privately, with the people of Inter.
"There have been no demands, the only official news that we have had is that Maicon has been removed from the market."
Maicon has made over 150 appearance for Inter since signing from Monaco in 2006.
The Brazilian was a key part of the side that claimed the treble of the Champions League, the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.
