Asian football leader Mohamed Bin Hammam has traveled to North Korea for two days of talks.

The Asian Football Confederation president arrived in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, with two other AFC officials on Sunday, an AFC spokesman who refused to be identified said Monday.

Pyongyang's state media confirmed his arrival, saying he has come to Pyongyang by air. It gave no further details.

A story posted on the official AFC website says that Bin Hammam's trip is linked to his position as chairman of football world governing body FIFA's Goal Program, which distributes resources and funds to member associations in developing countries.

The story said Bin Hammam, who is from Qatar, will to meet North Korean officials including Sports Minister Pak Myong Chol and football association president Ri Ryong Nam before flying to China later Monday.

North Korea last month contested its first World Cup since 1966, but was eliminated in the group stage at South Africa after losing all three preliminary matches.
