2 dead in car crash involving Brazilian player
Brazilian first-division club Figueirense says striker Dudu was involved in a car crash that killed two people over the weekend.
Authorities told the private Agencia Estado news service and other local media the 31-year-old Dudu lost control of his car and crashed into a traffic sign early Sunday in the southeastern city of Florianopolis. The car caught on fire and the two passengers who died were trapped inside.
The reports said Dudu was driving without a driver's license.
Agencia Estado said Monday that another passenger in Dudu's car remained hospitalized in serious condition.
Figueirense said Dudu was not seriously injured and was released from the hospital shortly after being admitted.
Figueirense is fourth in the 20-team Brazilian league after five rounds.
