Zenyatta filly Z Princess put down after paddock accident
A filly of racehorse great Zenyatta, which was born in April, had to be put down after an accident in a paddock.
Z Princess, as she was known, was a daughter of War Front and was euthanized Tuesday at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, as the result of the accident at Lane's End Farm.
Team Zenyatta issued the following statement on Zenyatta's official website:
The third foal from champion Zenyatta "was humanely euthanized last night at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital after a paddock accident on the farm," Lane's End Farm said in a statement. "As caretakers of these Thoroughbreds, we collectively mourn the loss of this beautiful filly."
Retired champion Thoroughbred Zenyatta is considered one of North America's greatest racehorses, winning 19 consecutive races in a 20-race career and named horse of the year in 2010.
